Structural Adhesives: Methyl-Methacrylate Bonding of GRP Door Frames For Auto Bodies
Here we see Ergo 1680 MMA (Methyly Methacrylate) structural adhesive being applied by our pneumatic type gun dispenser. The automotive customer in this case is bonding two door skin faces together that feature metal catches and fittings. They needed to achieve a structural bond between the two faces and following destruction tests they were fully satisfied that the glass fibres were ripped from the substrate, meaning the bond strength achieved was more than satisfactory. This particular glue was specified by KoverTek because of its cure profile being such that on curing no witness lines, shrinkage or surface deformations are evident (all important in high end applications)
